extended vlan on cisco2960 switch

i am trying to configure the extended vlan on cisco2960 switch. for this i've made the switch to be in transparent mode with vtp v2.
still im not able to configure the extended vlan!!
its not taking the (config)#vlan extended vlan id

please help!

Extended vlan IDs range from 1006 to 4096. Try this command format:

[code:1]swtich(config)# vlan vlan-id[/code:1]

thanks for the clarification but by extended vlan id i mean any vlan id that is alloted for extended range!

as i was doing the same on PT v5 before doing it on actual switch!
may be the problem is with PT, as if the commands are right.
i'll try it directly on real device!

Your right, I tried it on Packet Tracer 5.2 and it doesn't work. Although it worked on a 2950 switch. I guess PT doesn't support extended vlans yet. As it appears when you use vlan ?

Obviously 1-1005 !!!
