QoS Cisco 2960G - Lagging For Local Live Streaming

Hi there...

Should i configure QoS in LAN environment for Live Streaming?

Currently i'm working with Windows Streaming Server and broadcast it through my campus LAN.

The video source is taken from video camera and broadcast it to encoder. The encoder then deliver the video packet to streaming server. All user can play the streaming video using windows media player by entering video url.

My problem is the live video will lag after 10 to 15 seconds played through the LAN. Is it because the switches (Cisco 2060G) is not configured with QoS?

Everything is ok if the video source is taken from file (on demand).

Please advice.

Hmm. So if you play the media from a saved file on the server it runs fine across the network, but if you stream it live then it doesn't? It's the same network that's being used for both so that suggests it might not be the network causing the problem, in which case implementing QoS (a network fix) might not help. I'd look into the performance of the streaming server/app first and eliminate that before messing with the network

Thanks TheBishop..You are right...

The problem comes from the video captured card.. After replacing with another video capture card, the are no more lagging..

Thanks..
