How to add VLAN priority in Cisco / Dell switch?

Hi,

My setup is as follows:-

Client
Cisco / Dell
Server

The client and the server communicate on
a pre-defined VLAN.
I want to assign vlan priority (from 0 to 7) to certain kind
of traffic coming from the server.
Eg] DHCP packets should have a priority of 2 and so on.

Any pointers will be highly useful.

Thanks,

You might be looking for some thing called "Priority Queueing". Have a look here:

www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/qos/co...n_Guide_Chapter.html

Note that you probably need a router or a layer 3 switch with an IOS that supports those features.

Hi,
Thanks. Using the configurations specified in this link, the packets are prioritized for transmitting them out from the interface (queueing). I want the packets to be transmitted out of the interface with the 802.1p bits added.

Thanks,
