Upgrade Catalyst 4500 Using 10Gig Module was created by apit
Hello...I have some questions regarding to upgrade my existing catalyst 4500 series using 10Gig module.
Below are my current Catalyst 4500 specification :
1- Cat4500 E-Series 7-Slot Chassis
2- Catalyst 4500 Supervisor V-10GE, 2x10GE (X2) and 4x1GE (SFP)
3- Catalyst 4500 2800W AC Power Supply (Data and PoE)
4- Catalyst 4500 Gigabit Ethernet Module, 6-Ports (GBIC)
After this i plan to upgrade my 6-Ports Gigabit module to 10 Gig module..Base on my finding in Cisco website, they recommend to use WS-X4606-X2-E Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series 6-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet (X2) module.
My questions ::
1- Is it possible to use this 10Gig module (WS-X4606-X2-E) on my existing Catalyst 4500? Do they have issue's on switch performance?
2- Do i need to upgrade software / firmware version?
3- To install this new module, do i need to off the switch? Or is it hot swappable ?
Needs your advice.
