Cisco 871 lost config twice now.... was created by timparker
I have been working with these 871s I have one at home that I set up a site-to-site back to our office and had it working yesterday just fine. But I needed to take it offline to throw a different router in front of my laptop for a different test.
All I did was remove the WAN cable plugged it into this other router got a different patch cable for my laptop and booted up everything. Power cycled the cable modem and did my test.
I put the WAN back into the 871, power cycled everything and now the 871 has "lost" its NAT, Default Route and VPN information. I know that I clicked on the SAVE button at the top of the SDM config. This happened a couple days ago and I "assumed" that I just forgot to save and it wiped out some steps.
Is there something else that needs to be done to make it "stick" and persist through reboots, power outages, etc?
TIA.

Sorry fella not sure as i dont tend to use the GUI. If you are connected with CLI you can issue the "wr mem" command to write it to the startup config.

yeah as soon as feel a little more comfortable with all of this, in the past I have been a jack of all trades when it comes to Windows, AD, Exchange, Web servers, etc.
I am now starting to narrow my focus to Cisco/routers/switches/security/Firewalls. I am enjoying what I am learning and figure after all these years its time to focus on something and become very good at it. As opposed to being knowledgable in lots of things and not focused at all.
I have started using an option on the menus to write the config and so far after a couple power downs it seems to be saving it. Lets hope it stays!
