VLAN Management was created by dentifrice
Hi,
Question about Cisco Vlans..
Current config :
8 switches connected to a core switch. All portes are in VLAN 10 and it's the management VLAN. This VLAN is reserved ONLY for switches management.
What I want :
Instead of having all my switches simply connected through VLAN 10 to my core switch, I want to create trunks. But as soon as I switch my ports from Access mode to Trunk mode, there is no more port in the Management VLAN 10 so the VLAN shutdown and I can't ssh my switch anymore....
Is there a way to keep this vlan up without ports assigned to ? Because this vlan is reserved only for switches management and my host connecting to them is connected on the core, I don't need ports assigned to this vlan on every switch...
Thanks !

thanks I didn't know that.
Now I see I can set an IP to a loopback interface.
But is there a way to set a vlan to this loopback interface ? Because all my telnet/ssh management is done in a particular vlan.
working on 2960 series

create L3 vlan interface for vlan 10...so it will help to keep the vlan interface up even there is no switch ports are assinged to that vlan.
