I am trying to connect 2 Lans together and am having trouble getting the routers to see each other. I am using 2 WRT54GL Linksys routers.

The routers are physically connected to each other. These Lans where in place when I started one is our corporate lan and the other is used by maintenance for machines that need static IP's for reporting issues.

The corporate LAN is 207.209.136.0/24
Router: 207.209.136.247

The maintenance LAN is 169.254.1.0/24
Router: 169.254.1.100

The routers are both running rip. I have setup static routing tables on each of the routers as well. I set a static route on my computer to go to 207.209.136.247 when it need information from the 169.254.1.0 network but I get a Destination Net Unreachable message when I try to ping the maintenance network.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a cross-over cable connecting the routers?

Are the router interfaces that are connected together on the same subnet?

If they are can you ping each interface ip from each router?

For what you want to do, you need to connect the two wan interfaces together with a crossover cable. The 4 switch ports on each of the router will be on separate subnetwork. Configure the router to do DHCP services for the devices on the switch ports. That's all you should have to do because the router will automatically create a default route out the wan interface. You will not have any internet connectivity.

TY, Internet connectivity isnt needed here. I will try the crossover cable and see if that helps.
