Cisco Switches for CCNP lab was created by toddwoo
        Hello again all.
I've managed to get the routers I need for my CCNP and beyond lab, but I can't seem to find the switches I need..
So again I ask for you help in narrowing down what to look for.
1900 series seem to be too old to really be usefull, except maybe just 1 to have.
2900 series look good.. but ebay is not spitting out what I need.... same thing with the 500 express.
Is there some other switch I should be looking at?
the 1500 series micro switches any good?
Any help would be appreciated.

The micro switch will work for connecting devices, but won't do you much good as a device to learn with. It doesn't have enough functionality. Same goes for the 1900s... ok for basic connectivity, useless as a learning tool
Look for a couple 2924XLs or 2950s. Others to consider if you have extra cash would 3550s, 3560s, or 3750s, but they are quite expensive.

I purchased several switches off of ebay. I would suggest the 2950s. I also found two 3620s (I think). I only went with the 3600 series because I got them cheaper than I found the 2950s. You should be able to find them for under $200. I think I purchased most of mine for $125-$200.
I would avoid the 1990s; they are junk. I believe they use the old CAT OS.
