Multicasting Ghostserver through VLAN

Multicasting Ghostserver through VLAN was created by itemin
Please pardon the Alcatel question on a primarily Cisco forum. . . I've got Cisco routers too. But. . . .
I have 3 switches. One is a 6024, and the other two switches are 6048 models. They are synchronized as one device, and have several working VLANS in place. The switches have multicating turned on. I want all my hosts (about 100) across all my VLANs (at least the primary 4) to automatically get lan-associated-and-sequentially-numbered host names to specific-sequentially-numbered IP address mappings so that I may automate the Norton Ghost (Server) procedure. Currently, I can only Ghost one VLAN at a time, and I have to go 'round to each workstation on each vlan and name it after the Ghostcast session is complete. I am hoping that I can automate the session and renaming process, and thereby the Ghosting process, by implementing (passing) multicast DNS from the Ghostcast server across all my vlans at the same time (within the same timeframe) to the client computer stations as they boot via PXE or some other mechanism that will work (we are currently using PXE).
How did you get it to work?
Is it even possible - I understand by some documents that MDNS was not designed to cross subnets, but does that mean that it will not cross subnets? How about VLANs, since they create a subnet for us.
Otherwise, any other suggestions are in order, and any other help on this subject is appreciated very much.
If you have read this question on the Alcatel or SysOpt forums, I apologize for the cross-posts, but I really need some help on this project.

Hi, itemin. Sorry, I haven't got an answer for you, but I would like to reassure you that although we get a lot of cisco-related posts, we are manufacturer-agnostic and welcome posts for all equipment makes.
I trust someone will soon come through with an answer.

Manufacturer agnostic?
I thought an agnostic was some one who didn't know whether the manufacturer existed or not and couldn't be bothered to find out. I for one am personally convinced - where does all that networking kit come from if there is no manufacturer? Who puts the little polystyrene bits into those boxes?
Seriously though, this site is all about networking in all its forms and with all its flavours so anything related is welcome

Thanks for the welcome.
As for the query. . . the process that I need to get the switches to intercommunicate between VLANs might be a good place to start?
Now, there's a great deal of internet documentation on topology, CISCO, and basics, but so far I've not found much on what I'm trying to accomplish - even if I could do it without MDNS (an issue which might prove to be superfluous).
