Cisco 1700 upgrade problem

Deal all

I want to upgrade the leased line which connected to cisco router 1700. when I install the new modem the serial interface didn't work ( the router is power on, but the interface led is turned off).

Please help me.

are you still experiencing dificulties? Send a show interfaces command and post the output, also more info about your environment would be nice.
