when creating VLANs is it a good idea to leave the default VLAN 1 alone and use it as the management vlan only?

If you're using multiple VLANs then yes, I'd leave VLAN1 as just management (but see later). If you're 'not' using VLANs (i.e. just one VLAN for everything) then the default VLAN (VLAN1) carries all the traffic anyway. If security is a concern many people like to make the management VLAN to be some other VLAN other than VLAN1, simply because everybody knows about VLAN1!

when u like to create many vlans and having switches it always good to have a adminstrative server vlan..so that you can broadcast the vlan info.
