ADSL connection issue was created by blesson
Basically can any one tell the difference between the PPPoE connection and the PPPoA connection ?...why is that PPPoA connection having issues during the first time installtion of many routers(Linksys,netgear ,dlink,Belkin) compared to PPPoE ...?

Hi,
PPPoE and PPPoA are protocols used to establish a secure connection across a network.
Both are based on PPP - Point to Point Protocol.
The oE and oA refer to the type of network the tunnel will be established on:
oE = over Ethernet
oA = over ATM
So if you are using these in a LAN environment the PPPoE would be the most suitable.
If using this in a traditional DSL environment then PPPoA will be used because DSL networks are largely based on ATM rather then Ethernet (see DSLAM sticky in basic concepts forum).
It is important to choose the correct one for you network type as this affects the way the data within the PPP set-up stage is encapsulated for transmission across your network
If you post details of your network then we can try to figure it out why you are having problems.
