Cisco 3620 not recognizing my 1-NM-1E2W was created by ciscomanny
Hi all,
I have two 3620's and each with a 1-NM-1E2W unit (with a SERIAL module installed) and a 1-NM-1E1R2W unit (with a 56/64K serial module installed).
Both routers have 12.3.X Enterprise plus IPSec IOS as what I can tell. The image file is c3620-ik9o3s7-mz.123-12.bin
On one, i have the 1-NM-1E2W on slot (1) and the 1-NM-1E1R2W on slot (0). It boots up fine and detects both units.
The other router, when I have the 1-NM-1E2W on slot (1) gives me the following:
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]: no
Press RETURN to get started!
*Mar 1 00:00:03.299: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface VoIP-Null0, changed state to upBad Hardware in bay/slot/sub_slot = 1/-1/-1
*Mar 1 00:00:08.175: %PA-3-NOTSUPPORTED: PA in slot1 (Unknown (type 0)) is not supported on this image.
Please issue "show diag" in fully loaded IOS image
to get the PA's information and verify if it is supported
by this image, a newer version may be needed.

addresses for commands (such as 'novell routing') that allow the
use of this address as a default.

If I take take both units and switch them arround. The 1-NM-1E2W on slot (0) and the 1-NM-1E1R2W on slot (1) , they both get detected fine and the router boots up fine with no errors!
As far as i can see, both routers have the same configuration and IOS image file installed.
I know it's easy to say "Just leave it the way it works!" but I would like to learn what I must be doing wrong or have overlooked.
I'm studying towards my CCNA and have setup a small lab at home.
I have tried different things. Such as removing both units and installing one at a time, doing WRITE ERASE, reloading, and every time the 1-NM-1E2W is in slot (1) I get the error.
Thank you for your help, as I'm pulling out the hairs out of my head trying to figure this out.
