Hi friends,

I would like to know if there is any way we can find out if there was a change in the interface status other than finding it out from the logs.

I would like to know the status after the link coming back up. For example if there was a link fluctuation how would i verify the same other than from the logs.

Expecting an answer from you.

Hi

You will come to know in two ways

one is by giving the command show logging
second is by enabling logging to the syslog server.

If your device supports SNMP you can use an SNMP-based network management tool to watch the status and send you an alert if it changes

In addition to the above, you can issue a "show interface <yourinterface" command and check the carrier transitions which usually translate to link flapping.

Also, in some cases, link flapping will cause input/output errors to appear on the interface, so keep your eye on them aswell.

Closing, if you would like to reset the counters on the interface your watching, issue the "clear counters" command.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
