Two Site Layout question? was created by illness
ok, i have two sites with DSL and i need to get both on the same network.
what's the best way to do this?
does this sound like it'd work?
site A 2611 router and 520 firewall
Site B with a 2611 router
VPN from site B back to Site A
the gear i listed is somewhat old, what new models of cisco gear could i use to do the samething?
my budget is $8000 - $12000.

If site B is a lot smaller than site A, it might not make sense to upgrade it at this point. Perhaps a 2800 or 3800 series router, check out this
router comparison guide
. I'd highly recommend talking with a Cisco reseller to get pricing information. Of course, if these new rigs are too expensive, the 3700 series of routers are a good alternative.

is the firewall that's built into the 2800 series router good enough for a corporate network?

I've heard of performance issues and buginess w/the SDM features, but I think that the newer IOS releases are fixing those problems. The SDM has some good features, but a stand alone firewall will still give you more control and performance. But if its a small site, an all in one box will work just fine.

site a has about 150 users which none of these users will really ever traffic site b. site b has 12 users.
with dsl at both sites i plan to route all local and internet traffic to site a and use a firewall at site a for internet access.
would you use a standalone firewall for this?

Well, in this case it should be fine. However, I'm a fan of having the router route, and the firewall be a firewall, if you get what I'm saying. This type of set-up allows you to expand your network easier. So if your existing firewall works great, then by all means keep it.
