guys, im a little bit stumped here, please help me out. Here's the scenario:

Win XP Pro workstation cannot reach the DHCP server which is an ordinary Linksys BEFSR41 router with latest firmware on it.

Tried:

ipconfig /release - No go.
ipconfig /renew - No go.

- Error message showing is cannot reach the DHCP server. Cannot ping the default gateway also.

arp -a - No Arp.

Still on default ip address 169.255.XXX.XX, no matter what I do. Tried replacing the LAN card, still the same. LAN Cable is ok, connected a laptop into it and it works wonders.

All other clients attached to the same router are ok. Tried releasing all the IP address on DHCP table, restarted the router, restarted all workstations, still the same.

Last test made was to plug the problematic workstation, using a different cable, attached to a different LAN, and still the same error messages!

Help?!

:-)

I'll be waiting for your posts guys.

Very strange ... I would first check what firewalls are running and disable them while you try to solve the problem. If that does not work, your TCP/IP stack may be corrupted. You can try this handy tool to fix the problem.
