yet another problem was created by Kn1ght
Hello ya'll, I have another problem
I have a great machine (3.0 pent 4 1gig of ram) that is having problems. I have xp office 2003 on it, and in word I cannot save anything to mapped drives. if you try it freezes up. I can open things in mapped drives, and save it to the hard drive then COPY it to the mapped drive, but if I try to save it in word it freezes. The computer has XP Pro on it. Any ideas? I have looked at permissions the user has permission (domain network) and everything else looks peachy kean, computer works great, but they can't save... WEIRD!
Any help is grateful.

Hey dude,
Well i guess you can check and make certain the mapped drives aren't read only drives. Also make sure in your network connection setup that filesharing is enabled or check off. Also you can check your cable conection that connects your mapped network drives. This is a wierd situation.
Hope i helped any

Might try searching for *normal.dot* and deleting it, may be damaged, this may/may not fix the issue but it is a stab in the dark??

Kn1ght,
Since you've able to save the document to the network drive, it's clearly not a permission problem.
Have you tried saving to your mapped drive using different programs? Is the problem persistent there aswell?
If you find the problem only occurs when using your office applications, then I would suggest applying any available service packs for them and if that doesn't work, then try uninstalling and installing the product again.
Keep us informed on your progress!
Cheers,

hahhaa,
after a 10-15 minute freeze up (I went to lunch) I came back and it send that microsoft found the problem was MaAfee... I disabled mcafee and still had the problem. I uninstalled mcafee.... No problem whatsoever... So I called mcafee, and they said they are aware of the issue and haven't fixed it yet.... Stupid waste of my day heh.
