same usernames and passwords in two domains...

we have two offices. one in india and the other one in us. in india office we r using 10.2.100.1 network and in us we are using 10.1.100.1 network. both have total two domains. my management asked me to create users like, they can have same usernames and passwords in both the domains. i mean they can use the same username and password in both the offices.

You can make trust boundaries and have user log in with their UNC.
It's more then a while ago since i've done things like this, but with these guidelines you can figure out I guess...

go to Administrative tools, click on active directory domain and trust, right click on the domain, click properties, sellect the trust tab, click new. here you can follow a wizard to establish a one-way or two-way trust.
make sure you are logged on as administrator

I think there's a bit more to consider with trusts, and there's probably an easier way to allow users in the other domain to access network resources in your domain. You can just create the same user accounts for the users in the other domain, and whenever the users try to access network resources in your domain, they can authenticate with their usernames from your domain. Of course, I'm assuming that some kind of dedicated line or VPN already exists between you two.

A few things to keep in mind are that the domain controllers in both domains will have to be in Windows Server 2003 functional mode....so if any of the domain controllers are running Windows 2000 Server, the trust may not work. You'll have to keep a closer look on security groups to make sure that they have the right scope (i.e: universal, global, etc). I don't know other specific details but this should give you an idea of where to start researching.

this scenario demands a single logon in both domain, authenticating a user into the other domain with creating trust will be a bit cumbersome as users in the other domain will require training to do so.

Also, trust could also exist in the native mode functional level i.e 2000-2003 combined

i am unable to understand about UNC.

i did all acording to 'sose' but how to login to other domain.

i created test.com and prectice.com in my vmware. i gave 10.10.100.5 and 10.10.100.10 respectively. and i installed one client for each domain.

in test.com 'abc' and 'xyz' are the users. in practice.com 'pqr' and 'rst' are the users.

now i want to login in test.com with the user 'pqr'. how it possible.

if i create a user 'pqr' in test.com then how can we access practice.com domain resources.

plz, can anyone give me the step-by-step procedure for implementing trust relationships between windows 2003 domains.
