No computers in WSUS console

How do I get the WSUS console to recognize the computers in AD? I have installed WSUS on a Windows 2003 (current SP’s) server standard edition. I have WSUS configured and synchronized with all the updates from MS update site. But I can not get the console to show any computers.

I want to do a server side target. From everything I’ve read I should see a list of computers in the default ALL COMPUTERS in the WSUS console. I have used the MS document “Deploying Microsoft Windows Server Update Services” as a guide for setting up WSUS. What am I missing???

The ID that the machine is logged in to the domain has Admin rights to the network and the local machine.

Thank you for any help.

Did you configure the Group Policy settings for WSUS and apply it to an OU that contains your computers?

Humm... not too sure.

You may want to check this site: pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=594

I have only used Group Policy.

You could try and edit the local group policy on each machine. Other than that group policy is the best way.

Thank you to everyone for the advice on WSUS! I now have computers in the console. I did use the WSUS group policy and so far so good. I'm still testing just to make sure I have machines responding the way I want.
