linux as a music server

i was wondering if any one can help me in detal how i can make my mechine to a music server (red hat9) i can ftp my files over to the linux mechine but i want to play them off linux from my windows computer help anyone ??? :?

mmm you can installa a radio-server like icecast... or you can share your music file using samba

Shoutcast has a Linux server version..

Hey I really like this idea... I can implement it at work!!! Can you like have multiple "channels" which play Mp3's and people just tune into whatever type of music channel you create ?

Yeah you can have multiple channels, I know I set one up at a LAN cafe so people can listen to music rather than the game sounds.

It especially fun when you turn on the radio announcer and tell people that yes we do sell food and cheap too! :)

However I set this up on a windows box, haven’t done it with Linux yet, I'm sure it works the same way
